SJH Trailer Services Hire Trailer Agreement, 

Please read and understand the below before hiring any of my trailers

These Terms & Conditions apply to all trailer hires carried out by SJH Trailer Services. By hiring a trailer from me, you (“the Hirer”) agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Eligibility

To hire a trailer, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age

  • Hold a valid UK driving licence (photocard and proof of address required)

  • Be legally entitled to tow the trailer based on your vehicle and licence

  • Provide a valid insurance policy covering the vehicle towing the trailer

We reserve the right to refuse hire if documents or driving eligibility cannot be confirmed.

2. Hire Period

  • The hire period begins at the agreed time of collection and ends when the trailer is returned in full, undamaged condition.

  • Late returns may be subject to additional charges, calculated per hour or day.

  • Extensions to the hire period must be agreed in advance and are subject to availability.



3. Payment & Deposits

  • Full payment must be made prior to or at the time of collection, unless otherwise agreed.

  • A security deposit (amount to be confirmed) may be required. This will be refunded upon safe, undamaged return of the trailer.

  • Any damage, late return fees, or cleaning charges will be deducted from the deposit.

4. Trailer Condition

  • The trailer will be supplied in a roadworthy, clean, and serviceable condition.

  • The Hirer must inspect the trailer upon collection and report any concerns immediately.

  • The trailer must be returned in the same condition it was supplied. A cleaning fee may apply for excessively dirty returns.

5. Hirer Responsibilities

During the hire period, the Hirer agrees to:

  • Use the trailer legally, safely, and appropriately

  • Not exceed the maximum load or towing capacity

  • Ensure the load is secure and evenly distributed

  • Check tyres, lights, and couplings regularly during use

  • Use the trailer only in the UK, unless otherwise agreed in writing

  • Use all the security measures provided by SJH Trailer Services

  • Hirer must not change, alter or modify the trailer in anyway

The Hirer is fully responsible for the trailer and its contents during the hire period, including any damage, theft, loss, or third-party claims.


6. Prohibited Uses

The trailer must not be used for:

  • Transporting illegal goods or substances

  • Racing, off-road use, or towing by unsuitable vehicles

  • Sub-hire or loan to third parties

7. Damage, Loss & Insurance

  • The Hirer is liable for all damage or loss to the trailer during the hire period.

  • In the event of an accident, theft, or breakdown, the Hirer must notify SJH Trailer Services immediately.

  • The Hirer must provide insurance details and cooperate with any claims process.

8. Breakdowns & Assistance

  • SJH Trailer Services is not responsible for breakdowns resulting from misuse or overloading.

  • I may assist, where possible, in the event of a fault — but this is not guaranteed as part of the hire, and adequite breakdown recovery should be in place during hire period.

9. Cancellations & Refunds

  • Cancellations made with more than 48 hours’ notice will receive a full refund.

  • Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice may result in a partial or full charge.

  • No refund is provided for early returns unless agreed in advance.

10. Limitation of Liability

SJH Trailer Services shall not be liable for:

  • Any personal injury, loss, or damage caused by misuse or improper towing

  • Loss of earnings or delays resulting from trailer failure or unavailability

  • Third-party incidents caused by the Hirer or their towing vehicle

11. Agreement

By signing the Trailer Hire Agreement or confirming your booking, you accept these Terms & Conditions and agree to be bound by them.
